90歲的直木獎獲獎作家佐藤愛子現已封筆，她和女兒、外孫女一起過著慵懶的生活。一天，一位中年編輯邀請她撰寫一篇隨筆。愛子起初拒絕了他的提議，可對方每天都帶著禮物上門拜訪，她最終還是被他的熱情打動。編輯重燃工作激情，卻因此疏於照顧家人，導致妻子向他提出了離婚。愛子的隨筆集一路暢銷，受到很多人的喜愛。她和編輯成為了默契的工作搭檔，但他們將如何應對自己的生活呢？
